Youth Respite Counselor
Youth Respite employees supervise and assist special needs individuals ages 5-21 during overnight events at a local hotel. Each counselor is assigned to one or more youth and is responsible for facilitating social interactions, engaging participants during the course of the Respite event, guiding members through large and small group activities, may assist with daily care needs, and is responsible for the safety and well being of the participants. Respite activities include, but are not limited to, swimming, playing video and board games, watching movies, creating craft projects, and outdoor fun when weather permits.
Adult Recreation employees supervise developmentally disabled adults at least 18 years of age during community outings and recreational activities. Adult Recreation Programs focus on health and wellness, community integration, and the facilitation of daily living skills and pro-social behavior. Staff members guide participants through event activities and model age-appropriate social skills. Please call the agency office to find out more about open positions and job duties. Events are scheduled several times per month at various locations in the community.
Dance Club employees supervise a group of approximately 150 to 200 semi-independent to independent special needs adults during monthly dances at St. Pstrick McCarthy Hall in Racine. Responsibilities include implementation of check-in/check-out procedures, encouraging member participation during the course of the dances, and overall supervision of participants throughout the scheduled events.
